Located in West Cobb County, the city of Powder Springs was incorporated as Springville in 1838, ten years after gold had been discovered in Georgia. Though the first area settlers came to find gold, the mild climate, rich soil and inviting springs have always attracted people to Powder Springs real estate. The mines are long shut down but today over 14,000 people call Powder Springs home.
Powder Springs has plenty of community pride and plenty to be proud of. A naturally walkable community, the quaint downtown is a pleasure to stroll through any time of year. Historic buildings recall the city's past and a wide range of recreation programs and services keep citizens of all ages active.
Homes in Powder Springs are never far from the extensive city-wide trail system which connects its neighborhoods, parks, commercial centers and community centers to the historic downtown area. The city trails also hook up to the regional Silver Comet Trail, a 59 mile multi-use trail that runs from Smyrna to the Georgia-Alabama border and right through Powder Springs. Built on an old right of way, the Silver Comet accommodates cyclists, skaters, walkers, hikers, joggers, wheelchairs and even horses.
