East Cobb Georgia Homes For Sale
East Cobb consists mainly of zip codes 30062, 30066 and 30068. Because Cobb County is broken down in half, East Cobb is the east side of I-75 and West Cobb is the west side of I-75. The majority of East Cobb is the town of Marietta which has a population of around 45,000. East Cobb has welcomed top employers to recently include IBM and Lockheed Martin.
The whole of Cobb County has added 9,800 residents in 2007. This brings Cobb County’s overall rating to third in the region, bringing Cobb County’s total population to 664,700. Thirty years prior, the population was just over 196,000!
The internet savvy residents of East Cobb have also developed a social networking site called The East Cobber listing club events, local news and the East Cobber monthly newsletter at your fingertips!
Some of the neighborhood communities in the East Cobb area are Sandy Plains, Mount Bethel, Blackwell, West Oak and almost all of Marietta. The citizens of East Cobb created The Civic Association to make sure the development of the area keeps the East Cobb residents, their families and the overall environment of East Cobb consistently in the forefront. East Cobb has also limited the number of apartment complexes that can be built in the area. You will find mostly townhomes and single family residents in East Cobb.
All of East Cobb is within Marietta city and the area is vibrant with not much more room to grow. The schools here are some of the finest and the convenience, among other things, makes this community very desirable.
A fine example of local home development in East Cobb is the Tanglewood Homes. 
There are four Tanglewood developments that offer exclusive living in the heart of East Cobb; Tanglewood North, Tanglewood Park, Tanglewood Crest and Tanglewood Estates. They all offer you custom dream homes in the midst of Atlanta’s best shopping, school and commercial districts. The beautiful brick homes in these exclusive developments have 3 car garages and finished terraces. They also have immediate access to I-75 and I-575, and amenities that include a swimming pool, tennis court and playground. Even if a few of the neighborhood developments do not have community tennis courts and such, you are welcome to join any community recreational amenities for a small fee.
East Cobb Schools
East Cobb has established itself in the Atlanta region as a place well sought-after for its family-friendly environment. Many people who have been relocated out of East Cobb will move back, unable to find another city which meets their family's needs as well.
East Cobb schools are consistently rated in the top of the Standardized testing results in the state of Georgia. Cobb School District, which is the second largest in Georgia, and has 15,000 employees in 120 facilities, is the largest employer in Cobb County. The neighborhoods surrounding Lassiter High, Allen C. Pope High and Walton High are extremely popular. All three high schools are rated a 10 out of 10 at Great Schools.net.
The Marietta City School District is also a desired aspect of the East Cobb part of Marietta, and one of the school systems of choice for families relocating to East Cobb. East Cobb shares the district with Marietta. Marietta City Schools are governed by their own school board serving approximately 8,000 students. The city's 12 schools are known for their high level of academic success and count four Georgia Schools of Excellence and one National School of Excellence among their ranks. The Marietta City school nutrition program is another source of pride, collecting numerous awards and accolades including the 2007 LISN Award. Marietta schools have also been singled out for their success at narrowing achievement gaps between various student populations. Teachers in the system are getting tech savvy with a program that gives them each a laptop when they're hired. Many parents are also attracted to the low student-to-teacher ratio, which rests at just 18 to 1.
Additionally, Newsweek named Marietta High School as one of the best high schools in the nation for the second year in a row — placing it among the top 5% of all high schools in America in both 2006 and 2007.
East Cobb Higher Education
Students will find plenty of local opportunities in higher education in East Cobb:
• Kennesaw State University is the third largest state university in the entire state of Georgia. The school has over 60 Graduate and Masters Degree programs for the more then 20,000 students attending Kennesaw each year.
• Chattahoochee Technical College offers one of the first diploma and Associates Degree in Homeland Security and has recently added more classes and other Degrees to be added such as’ Emergency Management and Fire Science. These graduating students will not only be searching out jobs in the federal level but every major corporation, hospital, and airport will be searching out employees excelling in this aspect of our ever-changing world. The school as a whole has a 96% job placement success with over 6,000 students annually.
• Southern Polytechnic State University was founded in 1948 and located in Marietta is just twenty minutes from downtown Atlanta. This is the only college in Georgia to offer Bachelors’ of Architecture Degree and the only college nationwide to offer a Degree in Mapping and Surveying.
East Cobb Recreation
The Chattahoochee River borders the southern end of East Cobb and offers miles of hiking trails and picnic areas through the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Million dollar mansions line the road where bikers, joggers and roller blade enthusiasts roll along Columns Drive. East Cobb also maintains more than 40 public parks. Water sports are popular and The Appalachian Trail is just minutes away. Cultural opportunities are numerous, from the free concerts at Piedmont Park to the Georgia Ballet, the Cobb Symphony Orchestra, the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art and Theatre in the Square.
East Cobb Park features open grass fields, walking trails, stream overlooks, a playground, picnic pavilions, an outdoor classroom and one of the nicest outdoor stage areas in the region. The park is open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The current large loop walking trail is 0.33 miles.
The large pavilion at the front of the park may be reserved through Cobb County Parks Recreation. The three smaller pavilions at the rear of the site are available on a first come, first serve basis and may not be reserved.
Speaking of local parks, Mrs. Wylene Tritt owns 53 acres in East Cobb and during the spring of 2008 will join with the county to add an easement on her property to connect the East Cobb Park to Fullers Park. The new bridge will be just the beginning as Mrs. Tritt has decided to sell her land to the County with said property being kept as green space for the public to enjoy.
East Cobb Senior Services
Nestled in a unique campus-like community setting, the East Cobb Senior Center is adjacent to Mt. View Library, The Art Place, Mt. View Community Center, and the newly completed Aquatic Center. The lodge-like 19,000 square foot facility is approximately 1/2 mile south of the intersection of Shallowford and Sandy Plains Roads, providing convenient and easy access.
The Multipurpose Center's inviting exterior architecture extends indoors welcoming all to a light, exposed beamed two-story lobby. An inviting atrium area overlooks picturesque woodlands. Special features include a 900 sq. foot parquet dance floor, regulation billiards tables; a ventilated art room; computer room; classroom; two multipurpose rooms; a library and Grand Hall. The Center provides an array of social, recreational and educational programs for active seniors over 55. Mini seminars and classes are offered quarterly. Activities including senior club meetings are ongoing daily. East Cobb Shopping
The Avenue at East Cobb is a new, outdoor mall which boasts stores such as Ann Taylor, Border's Bookstore, Williams Sonoma, The Gap, and Bath Body Works.
There is also a wide variety of restaurants, from the small mom-and pop variety such as Capozzi's NY Pizza up to the national chain restaurants like Chili's and Houlihan's.
How to Get Here
If you were coming from the Atlanta area on Interstate 75 you would exit at 267A to the Canton Road Connection NE towards East Cobb and the Sandy Plains Road NE. Sandy Plains takes you right through the heart of East Cobb and ends at a fork going either to Woodstock Road or Alabama Road.
If you were coming from Chattanooga way on the Interstate 75 you would exit at 267B and follow the same directions.
