Cobb County School District

"A community with a passion for learning"

Serving Metropolitan Atlanta, the Cobb County School District is among the largest school districts in the US and is the largest employer in the county.

All of the district's 113 schools have been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and Cobb County students consistently score above the national average on the SATs. The district boasts 16 blue ribbon schools and 34 Georgia Schools of Excellence.

Charter Schools and Magnet Schools in Cobb County

Cobb County has 4 charter schools known for their high level of parent participation and innovative approaches to learning. Three of these schools serve students in grades K-5: Addison, Kennesaw, and Sedalia Park. The fourth charter school in the district is Walton High School, which serves students in grades 9-12. Walton High is nationally known for its exceptional achievement rates and fine arts programs.

Students in Cobb County are always encouraged to achieve their best and attain post secondary and professional success. With this in mind, the district has developed six magnet programs with specific courses of study including:

  • The International Baccalaureate Programme (Campbell High School)
  • The North Cobb School for International Studies (North Cobb High School)
  • The Advanced Mathematics and Science Academy (Kennesaw Mountain High School)
  • The Center for Excellence in Performing Arts (Pebblebrook High School)
  • The Academy of Research and Medical Science (South Cobb High School), and

Post Secondary Schools in Cobb County

  • Kennesaw State University — Offers more than 60 bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs. Located in Kennesaw, about 20 miles north of Atlanta, KSU is best known for its nursing, business and education programs.
  • Southern Polytechnic State University — Degree-granting institution in Marietta known for its technical degree programs in engineering technology, architecture and telecommunications.
  • Life University — A unique university in Marietta that specializes in chiropractic degree programs. Also offers degrees in nutrition, sports health and biology.
  • Chattahoochee Technical College — Two-year college that offers 27 programs of study leading to technical certificates, diplomas, and associate of applied science degrees. The college has campuses in Marietta, East Cobb, South Cobb, and Paulding County. Known for its business, health care and technology programs.
